Alter, also known as Alter Channel, was a privately-owned television channel in Greece. It commenced operations in 1990 under the ownership of Eleftheri Tileorasi S.A and was under the leadership of Andreas Kouris. The channel primarily offered news, current affairs shows, and entertainment programs. Prominent figures on Alter included renowned news anchor Nikos Hadjinikolaou, morning show host Giorgos Aftias, and the controversial yet popular investigative reporter Makis Triantafyllopoulos. Additionally, Alter broadcasted the critically acclaimed show “Fos sto Tounel” (Light in the Tunnel), which focused on locating missing individuals. The channel also boasted a diverse range of children’s programming that aired daily. Unfortunately, Alter encountered significant financial difficulties in 2011, ultimately leading to its cessation of broadcasting in early December 2011.
