Synopis
The story of Attack on Titan revolves around a civilization that exists between three walls. It is the last known spot where humans still reside, according to local knowledge. Its residents have been indoctrinated to think that humanity was on the verge of extinction over a century ago due to the appearance of humanoid giants known as Titans, who attack and eat humans on sight. The last survivors of humanity have withdrawn behind three concentric walls, where they have lived in peace for nearly a century, and going outside is frowned upon and discouraged. The country’s military uses Vertical Maneuvering Equipment, a set of waist-mounted grappling hooks and gas-powered propulsion that allows for incredible three-dimensional mobility.
The true history of the series will be revealed as the series progresses.
Eren Yeager is a little child who lives in Shiganshina, which is situated on the outermost of three circular walls that defend the people of Paradis Island from Titans. The initial wall is breached by two new sorts of Titans, the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan, in the year 845. Eren’s mother is eaten by a Titan during the incident, but Eren manages to flee. He swears vengeance on all Titans and joins the military with Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert, two of his boyhood pals. The Colossal Titan attacks Trost, near the second wall, five years after Shiganshina’s collapse. After discovering a secret power to transform himself into a sentient Attack Titan, Eren assists in successfully protecting the city. This attracts the attention.
Eren and his comrades find a sentient Female Titan during an expedition into the forest between the walls, whom they eventually reveal to be their fellow military reg Annie Leonhart. Eren fights and defeats Annie, who encases herself in crystal and is taken into custody, with the help of his companions. During the battle, it is discovered that Titans are sleeping within the walls. Titans, accompanied by the intelligent Beast Titan, an ape-like titan who can communicate, come mysteriously within the walls with no sign of how they got in. One of the latest Survey Corps grads, Ymir, shows that she can turn into a Titan and aid in the Titans’ repulsion. Christa Lenz, Ymir’s close friend, reveals herself as Historia Reiss at the event.
While the Survey Corps is being pursued by the Military Police lead by Levi’s uncle, Kenny Ackerman, Eren and his companions join Levi Squad. They learn that a human can attain the skills of a Pure Titan by transforming into one and devouring another Titan shifter, and that Historia and her father, Rod Reiss, are the only living members of the royal family, with the formal monarch serving only as a figurehead. Reiss kidnaps Eren because he has the Founding Titan, which his father Grisha gained by eating Frieda Reiss, the Titan’s previous owner, and which was given to Eren along with the Attack Titan’s strength after his son turned into a Titan and ate him. Reiss takes on the shape of a massive Pure Titan.
The Survey Corps led a successful campaign to reclaim Shinganshina after resolving the political upheaval, fighting the Beast, Colossal, and Armored Titans but suffering significant fatalities. Armin takes control of the Colossal Titan by devouring Bertolt, while Erwin commits suicide in a battle with the Beast Titan. Eren and his comrades return to Eren’s house, where they learn the truth about their world: they are Eldians, sworn opponents of the conquering Marleyans who were trapped inside the walls after the original King Fritz fled the conflict. They are not, as they were informed, the last humans, but rather a secluded sect of Eldians on the remote island of Paradis. Because they are Ymir’s ‘Subjects’ who can be transformed into.
The Survey Corps attacks Marley’s city, Liberio, three years later, courtesy to an unforeseen partnership between Eren and his half-brother Zeke, the Beast Titan’s owner. Eren kills Willy Tybur, who had been manipulating Marley from the shadows, and takes possession of the Warhammer Titan after devouring its former owner, Tybur’s sister.
Eren, on the other hand, is imprisoned for disobeying orders but is rescued by a group of Paradis soldiers known as the Yeagerists, and Zeke is held in Levi’s custody but tries to escape, severely hurting himself. Marley’s air fleet, led by Reiner, launches an invasion of Paradis, and war ensues until Eren and Zeke reunite, leading them to the Paths, an interconnected series of gateways connecting all Subjects of Ymir through time and space, where they meet the consciousness of Ymir Fritz, the original Titan, whose tortured past has confined her to the Paths for thousands of years. Zeke tries to persuade Ymir to grant his wish to halt the Subjects of Ymir from reproducing, but Ymir refuses.
To stop Eren, the Survey Corps joins forces with remaining Marley forces, including Reiner and a now-freed Annie. After killing Zeke and a mystery monster who is the source of all Titans’ power, Mikasa kills Eren, which causes the Titans’ power to dissipate, restoring normalcy to all people who have been transformed into Titans. Following Eren’s death, Armin recalls a final conversation he had with Eren within the Paths, which Eren made him forget until his death, revealing that what happened was all part of Eren’s plan all along, with the Rumbling ravaging other nations that could be a threat to Paradis, and Armin and the others being hailed as heroes for killing him.
