In its Paramount+ adaptation, HALO will be set in the universe that began in 2001 with the release of Xboxinitial ®’s “Halo” game. HALO the series will blend deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure, and a beautifully conceived vision of the future to dramatise an epic 26th-century war between humanity and an extraterrestrial threat called as the Covenant.

Bungie’s Halo is a military science fiction media franchise. Xbox Game Studios owns and publishes the franchise, which is now handled and developed by 343 Industries. Master Chief Sierra-117 “John,” one of a group of supersoldiers code-named Spartans, and his artificial intelligence (AI) companion, Cortana, are at the centre of the series.

The original trilogy is about a galactic conflict between humanity and The Covenant, an alien alliance. The Covenant, led by their religious leaders known as Prophets, worship the Forerunners, an ancient civilization that perished while defeating the parasitic Flood. The Halo Array is a collection of massive, livable, ring-shaped superweapons developed by the Forerunners to kill the Flood, but mistook by the Covenant for religious artefacts that would transport them on a Great Journey to meet the Forerunners if triggered. They resemble the Orbitals from Iain M. Banks’ Culture novels, as well as author Larry Niven’s Ringworld concept to a lesser extent.

The games in the series have received positive reviews, with the original being dubbed the “killer app” for the Xbox. As a result, the term “Halo killer” has come to be used to describe console games that seek to be better than Halo.  The sequels to Halo: Combat Evolved broke sales records, thanks to the success of the first game and Microsoft’s marketing activities.  By 2015, the games had sold over 65 million copies worldwide, generating about $3.4 billion in revenue. That number has now climbed to 81 million copies as of February 2021. Since then, Halo has become one of the most successful media franchises of all time. Due to the franchise’s success, it has expanded into various media, with the Halo Universe now encompassing many best-selling novels, graphic novels, and video games.
