Leonardo Dicaprio Wins Best Actor Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded Leonardo Dicaprio the Best Actor Oscar for his role in The Revenant at the 88th annual awards ceremony. This is the first time Dicaprio has won an Oscar in his 20-year career.

Dicaprio was nominated for the award five times previously, for his roles in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, Blood Diamond, and The Wolf of Wall Street. He finally took home the coveted prize for his role as Hugh Glass in The Revenant, for which he also won a Golden Globe and a SAG award.

In his acceptance speech, Dicaprio thanked director Alejandro Inarritu, his co-stars, and the crew of The Revenant. He also used his platform to urge action on climate change, saying “Let us not take this planet for granted.

In the past two decades, Leonardo Dicaprio has become one of the most popular and successful actors in Hollywood. He has starred in some of the biggest movies of all time, including Titanic, The Wolf of Wall Street and Inception. Dicaprio is known for his versatility as an actor, and his ability to disappear into a role. He has worked with some of the best directors in the business, including Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino. Dicaprio is also known for his environmental activism, and he is a vocal supporter of climate change awareness.
