Prehistoric Planet  is a five-part dinosaur-themed environmental documentary television series that will launch on Apple TV+ on May 23, 2022. It is narrated by natural historian David Attenborough and produced by the BBC Studios Natural History Unit with visual effects by Moving Picture Company.

The film follows dinosaurs that lived 66 million years ago and were reconstructed using computer-generated graphics all throughout the world. It was created with the goal of depicting dinosaurs based on current palaeontological studies, such as feathered dinosaurs. The series’ soundtrack was composed by Hans Zimmer. It’s the BBC’s first major dinosaur-themed documentary series since 2011’s Planet Dinosaur, and the third overall (the first was Walking with Dinosaurs in 1999)

The series had been in development for “a decade,” according to palaeontologist and consultant Steve Brusatte, when the trailer was released. [requires citation] Apple had ordered a new documentary series from BBC Studios called Prehistoric Planet, which will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, according to Deadline on May 8, 2019. Hans Zimme composed an original soundtrack for the film.

Sir David  Attenborough is an English natural historian, broadcaster, and author. He is best known for writing and presenting the Life collection, a comprehensive survey of animal and plant life on Earth, in collaboration with the BBC Natural History Unit.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Attenborough worked for the BBC as a top manager, serving as the controller of BBC Two and the head of programming for BBC Television. Zoo Quest, Natural World, Wildlife on One, the Planet Earth trilogy, The Blue Planet, and its sequel are among his eight-decade-long career as a writer, presenter, and narrator. He is the only individual to have received BAFTAs in every category, including black & white, colour, high-definition, and 3D.

While Attenborough’s earlier work emphasised the natural world’s wonders, his subsequent work has been more vocal in support of environmental problems. He has pushed for restoring global biodiversity, slowing population growth, moving to renewable energy, combating climate change, lowering meat consumption, and preserving more natural places.

According to NPR, he “roamed the globe and shared his findings and enthusiasms with his trademarked semi-whisper manner of narrating with his patented semi-whisper way of narrating.” Attenborough won Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Narrator in 2018 and 2019. He is widely regarded as a national treasure in the United Kingdom, despite his dislike of the title.
