The Biggest Movies coming in 2021
2020 has been a difficult year for the movie business, both for those who work in it professionally and for the millions of fans of the silver screen worldwide. Productions have been stopped and cinemas forced to shutter their doors because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the good news is that film crews are hard at work again, and movie goers will soon have the option of returning to theatres again, rather than watching box sets on TV, or spending too much time on online casinos.
Here are some of the treats that both Hollywood and Bollywood have to offer in 2021.
Hollywood
Jurassic World Dominion
Starring Chris Pine and Bryce Dallas yet again, this film highlights once more the basic fact that human beings and dinosaurs just do not mix. Jeff Goldblum will reprise his role as Dr Ian Malcolm yet again.
Mission Impossible Seven
The latest franchise in this American spy series, Tom Cruise, as Etan Hunt, will again lead his band of secret agents as they attempt to prevent a new threat to world peace and order. Many of the familiar cast are back, including Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and Rebecca Ferguson, and the producers have already released a teaser in the form of a death-defying mountain stunt sequence.
Mission Impossible Eight is already scheduled for 2022.
Cruella
Anybody who is familiar with the Disney carton classic 101 Dalmatians or the live action equivalent, will be familiar with the character of Cruella de Vil, the evil villainness who wants to steal the puppies to use their skins to make a fur coat.
This is a live action prequel detailing her early life, with a cast that includes Emma Stone and Emma Thompson.
Killers of the Flower Moon
Any movie directed by Martin Scorsese will always be eagerly anticipated by aficionados, and this is no exception, especially as its cast is headed by Leonardo di Caprio and Robert de Niro. It tells the story of the mysterious deaths of members of the Osage tribe in the 1920s, and the subsequent FBI investigation led by J. Edgar Hoover.
Chaos Walking
Dystopian films may be all the rage in a post-Covid 19 world, and this promises to be a new addition to the genre. It depicts a world where there are no women, and where all living creatures can communicate with each other using a variety of images, sounds and words.
Bollywood
Atrangi Re
This romantic drama starring Sara Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Dhanush promises to be one of the first Bollywood blockbusters of next year. It is scheduled for worldwide release on Valentine’s Day.
Bell Bottom
Described as an Indian spy thriller, this again features Akshay Kumar in the lead role, with other stars including Vaari Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi. It tells the story of a police constable who dreams of becoming a detective, and ends up solving real cases, with unintended consequences.
Maidaan
Sports films have proved to be big hits at the Indian box office in recent years, and this film hopes to follow in that trend. It is a biopic, telling the story of the founder of modern Indian football Syed Abdul Rahim. It stars Ajay Devgn and Priyami.
