Blade (2024) – marvel phase 5 timeline
After New Line Cinema’s previous film series, Marvel Studios secured the rights to produce a new Blade film by May 2013, and they had already begun developing a script for the project. After playing the role of Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes in the Marvel Television series Luke Cage, Mahershala Ali approached Marvel Studios in February 2019 about appearing in a new film and expressing interest in the opportunity.
At the San Diego Comic-Con in July of that year, Kevin Feige made the announcement that Ali would be playing the lead role in the picture;
Ali made his debut appearance in the role of Blade in Eternals in an uncredited voice cameo (2021).
Stacy Osei-Kuffour was hired in February 2021 to write the screenplay for the movie, and Bassam Tariq was hired to direct the movie by September of that same year.The date of September 6, 2024 has been set as the launch date for Blade.
After making its debut alongside Blade in Eternals, the Ebony Blade will now make an appearance in the film.
There have been other successful adaptations of comic books into motion pictures that have featured black superheroes before the release of Black Panther. In the violent and blood-soaked Marvel movie of the same name, which was released back in 1998, actor Wesley Snipes played the role of the maverick vampire-hunter Blade. Because it is far bloodier and more violent than many of the films that followed it, the original Blade movie was given an 18 certificate in the United Kingdom. This was before there was even any concept of a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Blade, which arrived to rip up the big screen even before the first X-Men feature, is largely responsible for the current wave of comic book epics that have been released. The title character, played by Wesley Snipes, is a stylish individual who combines martial arts, firearms, and swishy trench coats. He appeared in two more films, in the years 2002 and 2005, before being put on hold. The first of those was directed by Guillermo del Toro and it was a lot of fun, even though it was rather bloody. The most recent movie, Blade: Trinity, was panned by critics and was plagued by rumours about Wesley Snipes’ strange behaviour on the production.
In a very short amount of time, Mahershala Ali will reprise his role as Blade, who will then proceed to restore his authority. The actor has quickly scaled the ranks of Hollywood to win Oscars for his parts in Moonlight and Green Book, and the possibility of him playing Marvel’s ‘day-walker’ is incredibly thrilling. Green Book and Moonlight both won the award.
