Richelle Mead is the author of a series of novels that share the same name as the future Vampire Academy television series that will be produced in the United States. The series was adapted for Peacock by Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre, and Universal Television is responsible for producing the show.

It is the second cinematic adaptation of the novel series, following the movie of the same name that came out in 2014, and it serves as a reboot for the franchise. Peacock gave the show a go light to go straight to series in May of 2021, and throughout the year 2021, they made statements regarding the cast. The movie is going to be shot in Spain.

The series chronicles the lives of Rose Hathaway (Sisi Stringer), a guardian-in-training Dhampir, and Lissa Dragomir (Daniela Nieves), a Moroi princess, as they attend the boarding school known as St. Vladimir’s Academy. The ensemble cast is lead by Rose Hathaway.

Peacock is planning to launch the first episode of Vampire Academy on September 15th, 2022.
