Why the MCU Sucks according to Martin Scorsese

MCU Sucks, Say Top Hollywood Directors. In a recent interview, some of Hollywood’s top directors were asked about their thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And the verdict is in: MCU sucks .

“It’s just a money-making machine,” said one director. “The stories are formulaic and unoriginal.”Another director was even more critical, saying that the MCU “lacks heart and soul.”

These directors are not alone in their criticism of the MCU. Many fans have also complained that the films are too formulaic and lack originality. What do you think? Is the MCU really as bad as these directors say?

One of today’s most admired directors, Martin Scorsese, has criticized Marvel superhero movies as the dominant force in the business. The filmmaker of movies including Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas admitted that his attempts to keep up with modern superhero movies had been unsuccessful…

The director said when asked if he had seen any Marvel films, “I tried, you know. But that isn’t film, you know.

Theme parks are the closest I can think of, yet even those are well-made, with performers doing the best they can given the conditions. It isn’t a film about people trying to describe their emotional and psychological experiences to another person.

Earlier this year, Avengers: Endgame surpassed $2.8 billion at the global box office to become the highest-grossing movie ever (fifth highest after adjusting for inflation). Eight other Marvel works by the same studio make the Top 30.

Last year, Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel, defended his films against criticism similar to that levelled by Scorsese, claiming that the lack of major prizes for Marvel Studios did not reflect a lack of quality or ambition.

Perhaps it’s simple to ignore VFX, flying people, spaceships, or billion-dollar profits, Feige suggested. “I believe it is simple to claim that you have already received a particular honour.

Critics praised the use of “de-aging” technology in Scorsese’s most recent movie, The Irishman, which debuted at the New York Film Festival last weekend to standing ovations.

Joker, Todd Phillip’s revisionist take on the DC villain, is currently in theatres. It heavily references Martin Scorsese movies, particularly 1983’s The King of Comedy.

MCU Sucks

The Marvel Cinematic World (MCU) is a shared universe and American media franchise centred on a number of superhero movies that were separately created by Marvel Studios and were based on Marvel Comics’ American comic book characters. Comic novels, short films, television shows, and online series are all part of the franchise. The shared universe was created by combining related narrative points, places, cast members, and characters, much like the original Marvel Universe from comic books.

Iron Man (2008), the first MCU movie, launched Phase One’s films, which culminated in The Avengers, a crossover movie (2012). Phase Two was launched by Iron Man 3 (2013) and ended by Ant-Man (2015). Captain America: Civil War (2016) marked Phase Three’s start, and Spider-Man: Far From Home marked its end (2019). “The Infinity Saga” refers to the franchise’s first three instalments as a whole. Phase Four’s movies will start with Black Widow (2021).

With the release of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC in 2013, Daredevil on Netflix in 2015, Runaways on Hulu in 2017, and Cloak & Dagger on Freeform in 2018, Marvel Television expanded the universe to network television. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot is a digital series created by Marvel Television. Beginning in 2021 as the start of Phase Four, Marvel Studios ventured into streaming television with Disney+ for tie-in projects. WandaVision was the first of these. All of the movies, several of the TV shows, and compilation albums including pre-existing music from the movies have soundtrack albums available.

Marvel Studios has created a series of direct-to-video short films called Marvel One-Shots as well as a viral marketing campaign for its movies and the MCU with the fake news programme WHIH Newsfront. The MCU also features tie-in comics published by Marvel Comics.

The franchise has enjoyed financial success and a largely favourable reception from the critics. Other movie and TV studios with rights to adapt comic book characters have been inspired by it to try to develop comparable shared universes.

Outside of the shared universe, other media have made use of the MCU, including exhibits at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, attractions at various Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, a Discovery Times Square attraction, two television specials, guidebooks for each movie, numerous tie-in video games, and advertisements.

An American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor with the name of Martin Charles Scorsese. He is regarded as one of the most prominent and influential directors in movie history and was a key player of the New Hollywood era. Themes including Italian-American identity, Catholic notions of guilt and salvation, faith, machismo, nihilism, crime, and sectarianism are explored in Scorsese’s body of work.

His movies are well-known for their frequent use of profanity and depictions of violence.

Scorsese attended New York University, where he majored in English literature and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in that subject in 1964. The Tisch School of the Arts at NYU awarded him a master’s degree in fine arts in film in 1968.

After relocating to Hollywood in 1971, Scorsese became friends with some of the up-and-coming filmmakers who helped shape the decade, including Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, Brian De Palma, and George Lucas. He helmed Mean Streets (1973), a sentimental movie about faith and redemption shot in Little Italy, starring Harvey Keitel and Robert De Niro, as well as Boxcar Bertha (1972), a cheap Depression-era movie for Roger Corman.
